Planning and Control Go Live

„Veni, vidi, vici.

(Julius Cäsar)

After a successfully performed integration, system and user acceptance test the developed software system has to be implemented in the production environment. All modified and newly developed modules, all changed and new data bases and tables have to be identified and necessary migrations have to be executed. This process requires an accurate scheduling, because generally a defined sequence of steps has to be complied and tests after some stages have to confirm the quality of the introduction. A risk management is necessary – especially in the timely often very strong phase of pre-production – to be able to react immediately in case of problems and to perform a fallback in case of failures.

Take advantage of our methods and tools to schedule your Go Live, the phase in which everyone looks to project.

Approach

With sistematic interviews and through analysis of your project documents we identify the concerned software moduls and data bases as well as further components which are changed or newly developed or purchased in the course of the project. Possibly necessary migrations will also be considered.

In workshops we define in agreement with the responsible employees a sequence with potentially stage tests for quality checks. Additionally we declare criteria in order to verify the start and the success of the Go Live. Risks at Go Live will be identified from all participating employees and reasonable measures for mitigation will be decided. Basically a fallback strategy for the case of a failed Go Live will be developed.

We document the determined activities form the workshops, the quality checks and the fallback strategy in a Go Live Concept and a Go Live Schedule, The identified risks will be managed in a Risk Portfolio.

The Go Live will be coordinated by us or you on the basis oft he Risk Management Portfolio, the Go Live Concept and the Go Live Schedule and the successful execution will be veryfied by the controls defined in the Go Live Concept.

Results

  • Go Live Concept
  • Go Live Schedule
  • Risk Management Portfolio

Benefit

  • Structured preparation oft he Go Live through consolidation of all activities from all participating project team members in a Go Live Schedule
  • Coordinated execution of the Go Live and therefore reduction of the error risk for initial operation in production
  • Quality assurance of the Go Live through check of the defined Go Live Entry Criteria, test of intermediate results at some stages and  verification of the successful Go Live after introduction.
  • Identification of potentially risks and mitigation measures to be able to react in case of a problem.
  • Fallback Strategy with a description of the necessary activities

Prerequisites

The test basis (project brief, business proposal, IT concept) is available.
