Scheduling and Control Tests

„You can’t control what you can’t measure.“

(Tom DeMarco)

The implementation of the test strategy has to be scheduled accurately. For this purpose it is essential to derive the necessary test activities and to assign them to the available resources in a test plan. The test planning together with the defined test control process represents the base for an efficient test project steering and assures the achievement of the aimed test goals through continuous monitoring of key performance indicators.

Scheduling and control tests is a complex task. Use our tools and methods to keep the overview over your project at any time.

Approach

Based on your project specifics we determine the necessary activities, the required skills and the number of needed testers to implement the test strategy.

In addition we develop a metric system for test control that provides an overview regarding the test progress at any time.

In a workshop we will agree on the draft of the test schedule and the metric system with you. Together we will develop the project specific process to control the test. As a basis for this discussion our standard process for test control is available.

If desired we will take over the control of the test schedule for the project duration. We will report the status of the test progress in periodical status meetings and define applicable control measures which again influence the test schedule. The test status meetings will be organized and moderated from us.

Results

  • Test schedule
  • Metric system for test control
  • Process for test control
  • Plan of action resulting from status meetings

Benefit

  • Structured test planning and methodical test process control though experienced external test experts
  • Overview about test progress regarding scheduling and quality of the system under test
  • Metric based system for test control

Prerequisites

The test strategy and the test case specification (including effort estimation for test execution and description of dependencies between the test cases) are available.
